Hello I have a puppy that we just purchased a day ago from a local pet store. She is only 2 months old, but I’m afraid she may have a kennel cough. She is coughing a lot and seems to be hacking up some sort of sticky fluid that is sometimes accompanied by food. I think it is vomit but I’m not sure. Does this sound like a symptom of a kennel cough? And what should we do if it is?

Yes, this description does fit with kennel cough, which is an infection of the upper respiratory tract. It's not uncommon for puppies to get this when in close contact with other dogs and puppies. The best thing to do is take Cali to a veterinarian for an exam. It's not an emergency, but good to schedule an appointment within the next day or two. The vet will be able to help diagnose the cause of the infection and prescribe the appropriate medication. They will also be able to give Cali a good general exam to check for any other issues. I hope that helps and cali gets better soon.
