Is hip dysplasia fatal for my pregnant dog who is in a lot of pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

hi good day! my golden ret dog is pregnant, we notice several changes, like her food intake, her being always tired. the thing is my dog has hip dysplasia, and was told by the vet that the additional weight caused by her pregnancy is straining her body. thats why she is always lying down, dont want to stand up and when she does, she only use her right leg.. she also seemed in pain. my question is, and please answer. can her hip dysplasia kill her?

Hip dysphasia is not fatal. However it is genetic and can be passed to her puppies. I would recommend talking to your vet about pain management and joint supplements she can take while pregnant. I hope that helps
