Is it normal for a rabbit to eat less after having diarrhea?

My rabbit just had diarrhea two days ago and now it seems like consume less food than usual but still active in it's activity as before. Is it normal for a rabbit after having diarrhea ?

Is your rabbit’s poop back to normal now? It is very important to keep a rabbit’s GI tract moving or they will get very sick very quickly. If he isn’t eating well or if he still had abnormal feces then you should have him evaluated by a veterinarian. Also they can prescribe a good called Oxbow critical Care diet that you can force feed to get things moving again. This has worked well in my experience.     It can take 24-48 hours after some severe diarrhea to start seeing the normal droppings again, this is because of the emptying of the gastrointestinal tract. if he is eating normally just continue the treatment that was given to you by your vet and he should be fine.

Diarrhea is never normal, especially in rabbits. Have Shakespeare examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating rabbits. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth. Check her teeth for malocclusion or overgrowth. Feed timothy hay or similar grasses, as much as she wants. Do not offer commercial pellets, fruit or other vegetables until the stool is normal. You can also supplement with Oxbow Critical Care for Herbivores to put weight on her if she is underweight.

Usually diarrohea in rabbits is wuite serious, but in this case if the faeces is back to normal and the rabbit is eating well he should be okay. It was likely a combination of stress and celery. Celery isnt great for rabbits, stick to green leafy veg for occasional treats. If it recurs or the rabbit looks poorly go to the vet.

I would recommend taking your rabbit to the veterinarian to be examined as soon as possible. A rabbit that is not eating is at risk for developing gastric stasis (where the GI tract shuts down) which can be life threatening. Yes, if your dog has a sensitive GI tract. Dogs won't typically get infected with rabbit parasites. They are usually species specific. Withhold food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet ( boiled boneless / skinless chicken and plain white rice) in small, frequent amounts. Continue feeding until the stool is normal. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards. If the diarrhea does not resolve, see your veterinarian. Submit a stool sample to rule out other intestinal parasites. Try to restrict your dog's access to rabbit stool.

You should never withhold food from rabbits, they must constantly graze to maintain gut health and movement. Ensure the pellets are a high fibre formula and fresh (within date and not damp/musty) and i recommend you use a rabbit probiotic also. Contact your vet immediately if any change in appetite, weakness or reduced thirst is noted

I am concerned that she may have gastric stasis, which is where the stomach isn’t contracting and the GI tract basically stalls out. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Rabbits can get very sick very quickly with this and it can often be fatal. Discontinue feeding milk. Offer high fiber foods such as timothy hay and similar grasses. Commercial pellets can be offered in small amounts. These symptoms are extremely serious, Snow needs to be taken to the vet urgently, loose motion is often fatal in rabbits if not treated on time, he will probably need antibiotics, a special food supplement and medications to promote appetite in order to get better.
