My senior cat has a golf ball lump on his back, but seems fine. What now?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 15 years and 9 months old | 21 lbs

My 15 year old 21 pound yellow tabby male cat has developed a golf ball size lump on the middle left side of his back. There are no puncture holes and it doesn't seem to bother him. He is eating and acting normal. His litter box habit has neither increased or decreased. Any suggestions?

This large lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Chauncy to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the lump and send it to the lab for analysis (unless your vet sees some pus right away, in this case it's an abscess and can be treated on spot). when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.
