Why is my young dog limping and hopping on three legs sometimes?

My dog is almost a year old and seems to have trouble walking sometimes. He'll just walk slowly and careful. This time I noticed he was having trouble getting up, when he did he wouldn't walk on his front leg and was kinda hopping on his back legs. He doesn't seem like he's in pain. And I felt his legs and don't see anything wrong. And sometimes he walks just fine. What could it be? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered
