My rabbit has a hard lump under its ribs. Is it just a full stomach?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | 2 years and 5 months old

Right under my rabbits rib cage on the left side I can feel a hard lump... It is about the width of 2 fingers. I thought that was his stomach. My rabbit is a dwarf hotot. So he is smaller. He has had bloat before but that is easy to recognize. He has normal tummy sounds. Eating, drinking, pooping healthy and peeing. Yet he will let me rub on it, which is not normal. I have to leave him now for about 6 hours for work. But I'm concerned. Could it just be a full tummy?

I suppose it could be a full belly, but since it is something you haven’t felt before then I would be suspicious that it is something else. If it is still there tomorrow I would recommend that he be seen by your veterinarian. Best of luck to both of you and thank you for using Pet Coach.

    It is difficult to tell from the photo what exactly this is but depending on where it is exactly located it looks like it could possibly be his testicle. I would recommend taking Leo in to the vet to make sure nothing to serious going on.

I recently rescued a domestic rabbit. A lot of movement in her stomach, but can only feel one lump. Pregnancy or parasite?
We don't normally have parasites that get large enough to palpate/feel through the stomach or feel them move, so if the lump itself is moving I would be inclined to suspect pregnancy. If you take your bunny to a vet, they may be able to palpate the abdomen and determine if she is pregnant.

My 8 year old rabbit has a lump under his jaw. What can this be? It just randomly appeared. He's still eating right.
Thank you for including the picture. That could possibly be an abscess or a tumor. It looks a little low to be a tooth root abscess, but it May be the angle of the picture. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. A needle aspirate may be done to help determine the diagnosis. This lump could be a cyst, an abscess, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I would give Harry's vet a call in the morning to make him an appointment. Best of luck.

My rabbit has a tumour like lump near her anus, her insurance doesn't start for another 12 days it has not grown in size since yesterday and she is eating / pooing fine just wondered on the urgency of getting her to the vet.
Lumps and bump can certainly be scary, especially since we usually don't have any idea what they are. As long as it is not effective Poppy's ability to urinate and defecate, and as long as she is eating / drinking / having a good energy level, there is not absolute rush to have her seen. However, I would definitely get her to the vet to have that area examined as soon as it is financially feasible to do so. It is in an area of the body where if the size increases, the mass could certain become problematic. It is best to deal with it sooner than later. If the area starts to grown in size by even 10%, I would not wait until the insurance kicks in and just get her somewhere to be examined. While I realize this isn't ideal, rabbits are very sensitive to changes in their health and have the ability to crash quickly if things are not hastily dealt with. Hello. I am sorry for such a long wait for an answer, but something is really amiss with your bunnies. To have obvious muscle loss along with an expanding belly indicates some disease process is ongoing. The swelling in the belly can be due to fluid buildup or enlargement of some of the abdominal orgas, called organomegaly. This is really something that requires a hands on exam & possibly some diagnostic tests run as well as a good overview of your husbandry practices. hi i have noticed a lump in my rabbits belly further to the back not sure what it is also i notice he chews on the cage too. when i take him out he is not too active he just basically stays in one place also his nails appear to be curving. any sugges
This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. Gastrointestinal (stomach) upset is common in rabbits and can have many causes: ingested foreign body, infection, parasites, pain, dental disease, metabolic disorders (liver, renal), stress and more. If this is persistent, a veterinary visit is recommended, sooner than later. Keep diet consistent and try to limit sugars and carbohydrates. The more hay they eat the better. Good luck.

My rabbit was okay till 4hours ago he was hopping around etc. But now he is lying on the ground with pressing his belly to the ground. He is always sits or lie down and doesn't eat as he always do and he just doesn't want to move around when he moves
Hello. It sounds like your rabbit may have signs of gastrointestinal stasis, which means the GI tract has slowed down, usually as a result of a rabbit that stops eating. Rabbits will stop eating for a number of reasons - their teeth may be overgrown, their tooth roots may be infected, they could also have any other systemic disease (respiratory, urinary, infection, etc). As you can see, the causes are many and its impossible to say what is the underlying cause for sure without an exam and testing (usually radiographs, blood work, etc). Regardless of the cause, GI stasis is potentially fatal if left untreated. Therefore, I would urge you to get veterinary care ASAP. In the meantime, syringe feed Hobie with a liquid hay diet, ideally Oxbow herbivore critical care if you can get some, or soak the hay pellets in warm water to make a slurry. My rabbit has a big bulge under his neck, I don’t know if it’s just chub or something but wanted to be sure, is it normal?
Hi there. It would be easier for me to help you if you could post a photo of the bulge. One way that may help you determine if it is fat or an actual problem is symmetry. Is this bulge directly in the middle of his neck or off to the side? If it is off to one side it is more likely to be an infection, tumor, etc. Without a photo my best guess is that he has an abscess (infection) which is fairly common for rabbits to get. I would suggest you have him examined by a veterinarian that is used to treating rabbits. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
