Can my lonely unspayed rabbit bond with a spayed rabbit friend?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 17 days old

Hello I recently bought a young rabbit (she's about 1 month old) she's not neutered yet but I was wondering if I should consider getting her a play-mate (another rabbit) that was perhaps desexed. I was wondering if it would still be alright to have a spayed rabbit bonded with a not spayed-rabbit or would it cause fights because the two aren't spayed? I noticed that my girl rabbit has been very lonely lately as she's the only animal I own.

Rabbit bonding is more based on the rabbit and who they like then on female/ male status or neutered or intact status. Some bunnies bond well and some don’t. I think considering a bonding mate for her would be a great idea. Just go slow with introductions and be ready to take bunny #2 back if they don’t like each other. Good luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
