My kitten reacted badly to flea treatment. Should I wash her again?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 10 days old | 2 lbs

I applied spot on treatment for fleas on my kitten and after an hour or so she totally freaked out and started mewing and crying and jumping and scratching and basically acting very strange. I then read online that I should wash her with water to help her which I did but without any soap. She is still scratching and licking but she is not crying or behaving erratically any longer. Is she OK now or should I was her again?

Yes, I would wash her with soap to get the medication off her skin. She is more sensitive so I wouldn't use that again. I don't want her to continue to scratch and lick as she may make a skin sore. After this reaction talk with your veterinarian to see what product they recommend for Nightmare. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Nightmare.
