My cat is in heat and acting weird. How long will it last? What to do?

My cat is acting weird since 3 days.. Making a weird sound which is very annoying and arches her back but she eats well and defecates and urinates .. I asked a doctor and she said that my cat is in heat and must be spayed and I don't want to do that to my cat what should I do?? And for how many days she will be like that?? Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 1 year old

Hello and thank you for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would tend to agree with your veterinarian that is sounds like your Coca is in heat. I would also recommend spaying for many reasons, not just that it is annoying behavior, but she is substantially less likley to develop mammary cancers and uterine infections if she is spayed. This behavior may last another 7 days. She may come out of heat for a couple weeks and then come back into heat until she is bred. Best of luckt o you and Coca!
