Poor Dewey! I'm so sorry to hear of his skin troubles. Dewey could be dealing with a number of potential problems. It is difficult to tell from your photo, but it is possible that Dewey is having a reaction to some sort of biting fly or similar. You could try an over the counter topical parasite preventative that targets biting flying insects and see if this helps. The lesions may have become infected, contributing to the scabbed appearance. Patchy hairloss and lesions like this can also indicate a problem called demodex-caused by tiny mites that live in the skin. These tiny bugs can only be treated with certain medications, and can cause ongoing skin problems if not addressed. I would recommend having Dewey checked over by your regular veterinarian-they will perform a thorough physical examination, and may recommend some skin tests such as a skin scrape, which can give better insight into the cause of Deweys problem. Your vet will then prescribe medications as appropriate-he may be prescribed antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, medicated shampoo. I hope you are able to determine the nature of Dewey's problem and get him looking and feeling better soon!

It could be fleas if you are being bitten as well. Fleas live in the environment, not on the dog, they only jump on to feed and then jump off. Have Colson seen by a vet. The vet can diagnose if he does have fleas, and can treat him. I would also see your doctor to get your bites checked out.

I just saw an article about something like this today. These may be fly bites. You're in the right area for black flies and these marks look similar to the ones in the article (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/life/pets/a27755129/red-spots-on-dog-stomach/). If he is scratching excessively or seems uncomfortable, take him to see you vet, but if these are indeed black fly bites, the season is short and then they're gone.

These marks are similar in appearance to marks left by biting flies, such as black flies. I would recommend a product such as Canine Advantix II which helps prevent fleas but also biting flies. Your vet may carry other similar products for your dog as well.
