My dog missed a booster. Can I introduce a new puppy safely?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 3 months old | 6 lbs

I have a 2yr old cross breed and a 8 am old Jack Russell puppy. My 2yr old has been vaccinated but missed her last booster injection. Can I introduce them as they live in the same house or do I have to keep them apart in the same house. Please help

Congratulations on your new baby! To be on the safe side, I would keep them separated until your vet can examine the puppy and make sure they seem healthy. Then you can discuss Angel's vaccination status at that time and decide on when to introduce them. I hope that was helpful! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
