This is question is not something that can easily be answered in this forum. Setting up a consult may be best as there are many questions that would need to be asked and answerd about what happened in the environment leading up to the incident that may have made the dog feel threatened, if there were any warning signs that could have prevented this, and what can be done to ensure this does not occur again.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Tiger. Behavioral problems are oftentimes very complex and not easily solved especially in this forum. Abnormal or unwanted behaviors often have triggers so it's important to get very detailed historical facts that lead up to the behavior. Also, medical problems can cause unwanted behaviors so it's important to rule out underlying medical problems that could promote problem behaviors. I would advise that you consult with your veterinarian. They will be able to gather a detailed history and perform a thorough physical exam. They may advise some tests such as fecal/blood/urine tests and possibly some x-rays to evaluate Tiger's overall health. They will be looking for anything wrong that could lead to him wanting to bite. If all of the findings come back normal, a behavioral problem can then be addressed. Behavior modification and possibly some drugs may be used to address the unwanted behavior. Your vet may refer you to a veterinary behaviorist if they feel like this problem is too complex for them to handle. Good luck with Tiger
