Unfortunately fleas live in the environment even in clean houses, they are usually carried by wildlife or other pets. You need to treat her with a spot on product such as broadline, advocate or frontline which you get from the vets. Do this every month to 6 weeks. Vacuum the entire house, wash all bedding and stay a flea killing aeresol such as RIP flea. This will kill the eggs and fleas in the environment.

Do not bath her in Dawn dishwasher as this will do absolutely nothing to the fleas!. This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea cat regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.

Often cats and kittens are allergic to the flea bites and they can continue to itch for a while once all the fleas are gone. Sometimes you’ll see fleas that are still moving but are probably dying. I use a flea comb daily to check for and remove any fleas. That will let you know if they are all gone or not. Once the bites are healed the itching should stop. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Hamlet.

Poor Spooky! A flea bath shampoo will kill the fleas on her, but it does not provide lasting protection. In addition, fleas live in the environment, they just on the cat to feed and then jump. Other causes of itching include allergies, mites, and ringworm. Have her seen by a vet today to get the definitive cause of her itching, and the vet can also give flea medications as needed. Best of luck.
