My dog's face is swollen a day after distemper shot. Is it normal?

My golden retriever just got his distemper shot yesterday and I’ve just noticed tonight that my dogs face looks a little swollen

Hello. I'm sorry to hear that Gizmo's face is swollen. Usually vaccine reactions occur within a couple hours of receiving the vaccine. It could be a delayed reaction or possibly a bug bite. You can try giving Gizmo 50 mg of Benadryl, but if this does not stop the swelling within and hour or two, he should visit your vet. Best to you and Gizmo.

    Any swelling around the face or head can be vaccine-related. However, I typically see swelling after vaccines more closely associated with the muzzle. If Theo is acting normally otherwise (eating/drinking, alert, playful, etc) then I'd give it a bit of time. If no resolution to this swelling after a day, have it checked out.
