What should I do about a white skin bump under my senior dog's arm?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 years and 5 months old | 20 lbs

Our 8 1/2 year old dog has a white spot under his arm. About the size of a tag but flatter. Groomer said today the spot might have a sticker in it. What should we do with this white skin bump.

You may not need to do anything about it. It could simply be a benign tumor and it won't need to be removed unless it's bothering Beau or becomes bigger. I would have it checked out by a vet to be safe, as there is always a chance any bump could be a malignant tumor in a senior dog. I would have him seen by a vet sometime over the next week. I can see the bumps from the pictures (thank you for providing them!), and it could simply be a benign tumor like a wart. There is also a change in a senior dog that any bump could be malignant, so it's always good to get it checked out by a vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the bump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the bump is found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you. Good luck, I hope this helps!

I’m worried about these bumps on my dog. She is a senior and a terrier bread.
Hi. These luckily look like benign sebaceous , wart like masses that many dogs get as they get older. They can grown, get in the way and even bleed, but they arent a cancerous mass if it is what I believe they look like. If you have any concern though and want to be sure, I would recommend getting him seen

Found a small bump on my dogs shoulder blade, near his neck. I've seen or felt small bumps on him before but they were usually nothing to worry about. This one is bigger, wanted to see if I should take him to a vet. He's a 14 year old westie.
Hi there. That appears to be just a benign wart or cyst. I would not worry about it at all. Just monitor it and if it starts to change in color, shape, size or it starts to bother Terry then you should get him to your vet for an exam. I don't expect that will happen. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Not sure what this bump is!
Dogs can have many different types of growths/tumors on the skin. Some are benign, such as sebaceous adenomas, and do not require removal unless the dog is frequently traumatizing them. Others are more aggressive (such as mast cell tumors) and require removal. It is impossible to say for certain what type of growth this is. I would recommend having your vet take a look in person. They may recommend a fine needle aspirate, where a small needle is inserted into the mass to take a sample to try to determine the type of growth. Until he is seen, I recommend measuring the growth with a ruler and marking down size, and then remeasuring at regular intervals to see if it is growing in size.

Egg sized, egg shaped lump on my older (probably 8 yr old) German Shep/Dobbie mix. It's under the skin and firm. Any ideas to keep me calm until I can get her into the vet this week?
There are numerous causes of lumps on a dog Sheba's age, and not all are worrisome. Dogs can develop non-cancerous lumps like cysts, seromas (pockets of fluid), abscesses, and bruises. Some of these can go away after being drained by a veterinarian. Dogs can also develop lipomas, which are benign fatty tumors, that generally do not cause problems. Some owners elect to remove them and some monitor them at home. The best way to figure out what is going on is to take Sheba in to have your vet examine her and possibly do a fine needle aspirate of this lump, which involves sticking a small needle into the lump and trying to remove cells/fluid. These cells/fluid can then be examined under the microscope to help determine what the lump is made of and how it needs to be treated.

My 10 year old black lab has a large red bump on his shoulder that ozes then scabs up and continues this cycle. He has had ongoing allergic reactions to something unknown with ear and skin issues but now he is developing this mass.
Poor Boss, that's a nasty looking lesion. Without seeing it in personI couldn't say for sure what might be the cause. Hopefully it is a type of benign skin cyst, but I am concerned it may be a type of skin tumor. Your vet will be able to examine him and if they can't be certain to what it is they may suggest a non invasive needle biopsy / aspirate, this can tell them what type of cells they are and if there is cancer.

my small dog has developed a blister like bump approx 10mm and 5mm high skin surrounding slightly darken ,, she wants to lick it all the time any suggestion .. one what it might be and how to heal it
This bump on Abby could be a cyst, a benign tumor, or potentially a malignant tumor, which is always a possibility in a senior dog. Any suspicious bumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the bump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would have Abby seen by a vet tomorrow to get the lump examined and diagnosed so it can be treated if needed. It may need to be removed surgically depending on the diagnosis, but the vet can make that determination.

My dog has got a little bump on his side, I have no idea from what. I just want to know if I should take him to the vet, or will it just heal on it’s own
This lump/growth should be ideally examined by your veterinarian to have a definitive diagnosis. Your vet will examine it and possibly perform with an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy. Differentials would include skin cyst, infections or benign or malignant type of tumors (unlikely given his age). My dog has a very small skin colored bump on her back. Can't see it at all. I found it while petting him
There are many different causes for dermal masses as you describe. Many are benign growths such as sebaceous adenomas, which do not spread or cause problems elsewhere. We can, however have more aggressive growths affect the skin so for this reason a vet exam is recommended. Depending on the appearance the vet may recommend monitoring the growth for changes, as aspirate to perform cytology to help identify the growth, or removal and biopsy.

It sounds like this is some kind of skin growth. Dogs can develop melanomas of the skin along with many other benign growths. I would recommend having your vet take a look - they might recommend taking a sample with a small needle to determine what this might be, or they might recommend going ahead and removing it.
