My Shih Tzu has lice and is miserable. What shampoo can help?

Pet's info: Dog | Shiba Inu | Male | neutered | 10 years and 5 months old | 12 lbs

Need a d lymonene based shampoo for chewing lice on a 10 year old shitzu. Am using advantage plus on him every 2 weeks but he needs bathed. He is miserable

There are no specifically licenced shampoos for killing lice in dogs, anectodally people use dermoline shampoo for treating lice in horses. However it is expensive and not tested in dogs. Personally I would use a flea shampoo as the active ingredients will tackle live too. Another thing you could try would be frontline spray, the fipronil in it works well on lice. It is really important to treat the home as well with thorough cleaning and an insecticide spray.
