Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed | 8 years and 7 months old | 9.2 lbs
Maggie, F/s Persian, 8yo. Rescue. Has Chronic problem w/ skin/fur. No fleas. Plucks/eats gobs of fur on sides where able to reach. Dry white skin flakes come & go. On Close inspection: areas of microfine dark dots, poss.follicules? Areas inconsistent. Treated many times with pred family of meds, antibx &on dry science diet d/d. Won't eat other/wet foods. Chin acne/upper lip on & off. Some cystic. Hates brush & bath. Poor grooming now. Legs, belly, hips starting to matt. Thoughts? Help?

Hello, sorry to hear about Maggie. It does look like she may be having allergies. I would assume that based on her history and long hair that her allergies may be environmental and she is likely keeping a lot of these allergens trapped on her fur. You could consider having her shaved and groom to remove the mats and to keep her hair short. This may ultimately help with her allergies. She will likely need some form of allergy medical management long term which could be provided by your veterinarian. Hope this helps and best of luck.
