My dog has a pelvic fracture. How can I help her stand to potty?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 12 years and 9 months old | 70 lbs

The vet told me that my dog has a pelvic fracture, I was wondering if there's any way I can help her to her feet so she can use the bathroom. She won't let me pick her up

For pelvic fractures or hind end trauma, I recommend a product called GingerLead. This is an abdominal sling that will help you pick up Hailee using a sling and it will not exert much pressure on the pelvis itself. I would also make sure you have enough pain control. If you are only using an anti-inflammatory such as Rimadyl (carprofen) I would consider adding in additional pain medications such as Tramadol or Methadone for further pain relief. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions. I am also available via consultation if needed.
