Why does my Labradoodle have crusty lumps and red skin after walks?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Female | spayed | 35 lbs

My 2 year old Labradoodle has numerous small hard crusty lumps primarily on her back and legs. Her stomach area gets crusty areas but they are not hard. She also breaks out on her tummy with red plaque areas after walks on the beach or in a grassy area we often walk in. She does not seemed bothered by these lumps. No licking or scratching

It is not uncommon for labradoodles to have skin issues. The lumps on her back and legs sound to be like cysts, these usually blocked sebaceous glands and generally nothing to worry about unless they become infected. It sounds like she goes through cycles of allergic skin with the other signs you describe. You could try giving her an antihistamine tablet and add a skin supplement to her food to try and improve her skin. Use shampoo for sensitive skin on her. If her skin is becoming more an issue it would be good to have her examined by a vet.
