My old hamster is smelly with a swollen bum and gunky eye. What now?

Hello, my hamster is 2.5 years old now so he’s getting on a bit. I’ve just gone to check on him and he is really smelly, his bum seems swollen and red, he also had a gunky eye... not sure what to do. Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Male

He should be examined by your veterinarian. If he has "wet tail" (proliferative ileitis), he will need treatment and supportive care. Keep his cage clean. Change bedding daily if necessary. Keep him warm and as stress free as possible. Discontinue feeding any treats, fruits or vegetables until he recovers.
