Dog scratching belly, red sores, licking, and losing hair. What to do?

My dog keeps scratching his belly and has red sores on his belly he also lucks the sores and has lost hair around the sores

I'm so sorry that Hugo is having this problem. I would be worried that he is having a skin infection which can be quite itchy and irritating which is likely why he is licking. I have attached a link below with more information. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=1571 Skin infections in dogs typically occur as an overgrowth of the normal bacteria on the skin, but are caused by an underlying condition. I would recommend having Hugo evaluated by your veterinarian both for treatment of this infection (which may involve topical or oral medication), but also to search for underlying problems (such as allergies or parasites) that may be causing the infection.
