Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Female | spayed | 11 months and 1 day old | 13.5 lbs
I have an 11 month old Cockapoo. Months ago she wouldn't sleep through the night and bark but after ignoring her barks for 3 nights, she stopped. She has slept through the night ever since this past Sunday. She has now started barking again. She has free reign of our condo and paces the house, panting and barking at random times. Last night it happened at bed time (20 min), 1 am (15 min) and 4 am (over an hour). We just ignore her. She was just spayed within the last month. Is this normal?

This sounds like something upset Luna Sunday and now she is still worried. This can become a habit so I like to stop this behavior right away. Many dogs bark at night, mine especially when the moon is bright as they can see more things outside. I recommend putting her in a crate to sleep and ignoring her like you have been. Giving her a good walk or playtime before bed will help get her tired as well. If you have her in another room I would make sure it's dark, and you can play soft classical music so she doesn't hear noises in the house and outside. She's still a young dog so this should improve as she ages. When she's gone several weeks sleeping quietly in the crate then you can try letting her free at night. If the barking starts again have her go back to sleeping in the crate. She'll learn to control her barking that way. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Luna.
