Will visiting my pet after adoption confuse them or help them adjust?

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Male | neutered | 2 years and 6 months old

Unfortunately, i have to raise my baby for adoption. I oindly need your advice, can i still regularly visit him or shall i not do it to allow him yo move on? Your feedback is kindly appreciated!

I’m so sorry you have to give Volt up for adoption! That must be so hard for you. It would be fine to visit him but I wouldn’t do it regularly. He does need to adjust to living with his new family, and you have to respect their wishes about visiting as well. I hope this helps!

I'm so sorry you had to give away Finley, how heartbreaking for you! I don't think Finley would think he's coming back to you if you go and visit him. He's had time to adjust to his new home, and is likely very settled there. I'm sure he would be happy to see you, but he will likely view you as a visitor to his home. I think it would help you see him in his new home, and I would go visit him if you'd like :-)

Wow this makes my heart hurt for you and Luna. I think visiting her is confusing her, makes her miss you. If you aren't able to move out on your own to take her back, then I would stop visiting her. I'm so sorry.

This is a tough question and a tough situation. I’m sorry you are going through this. It is hard to say which scenario would be better for Diego, it probably depends on his personality. If he was very attached to you I think it would be better if you avoided going to see him in his new home as this may confuse him and cause him more stress. I think it would be a good idea to have the new owner take Diego to the vet to be checked out and make sure there are no medical issues going on that could cause him to not want to eat. It may also help if the new owner got somenphermone diffusers, like Feliaway, to help Diego be more relaxed and comfortable in his new home. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. This can certainly be a confusing situation for Pepper, which may explain why he was confused when he returned the last time. If Pepper is going to a bad environment, I would try and talk this over with his previous owner and ensure him that Pepper is much better off in the environment he has been in the longest. Unfortunately, if he gave you temporary care of his dog, technically Pepper still is his dog. You could also ask the man if you could adopt Pepper from him and pay him an "adoption fee" and make it so that if you adopt Pepper, he no longer has ownership and is no longer allowed to take Pepper for visitation. Poor guy. I hope he gets well and is able to come home soon. Pet visits are absolutely welcomed and encouraged. Cats aren't as attached as dogs, but they do enjoy visits from their owners and this can boost morale and also the health of the pet has been shown to increase when there is an emotional tie to a present owner. I would encourage you to visit your pet Memi everyday he is there, twice daily if possible, and I hope he gets well soon!

Penny has been through a lot lately with moving to a new home with a new owner. When you met her, you likely met her where she was living, so she felt comfortable there and was friendly. She met your parents in a new home that she has not adjusted to yet, so she likely was shy and a little scared. Give her some time, it's ok that she didn't let them pet her. I imagine she will warm up as she becomes more comfortable in your home. Best of luck.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! First of all, thanks for what you are doing, that is very nice of you. I think it would be best if they are introduced slowly to the puppy meaning for short amounts of time to be increased daily until they are getting along well consistently. They should be supervised at the beginning when interacting with your cats or puppy. I think it would be a good idea to have toys and beds for both to make them feel more at home. Good luck!

Hmmm, my answer got cut off. Stick with the same food and treats if possible. If he has a dog bed he's used to, keep that available for him. Finally, if you have access to your aunt's clothes, it may help to give him an article of her clothes that she frequently wore that might still have her scent. The scent will eventually wear off, but in the meantime he'll be adjusting to his new environment and routine. The fact that you're asking tells me you want to do right by him, and I think you (and he) will do fine! Good luck, hope this helps!

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question. Breaking up is really hard to do, and it can be hard on pets. No, I wouldn't take him back, he's bonded to you. It just takes time to adjust to a new home, and if you want, you can get him a companion for your home. Just give him time. When my ex and I broke up, he didn't take the dog who was super bonded to him. She sat by the front door for a long time waiting for him to come home, but she got over it, and was happy and loving life with me. I just gave her extra love and attention during that transition time. It will be ok, trust me. I hope this helps!
