Can vaccinated dogs get parvovirus from contaminated water?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 25 lbs

I washed down some rugs I found in our shed. I didn't notice until afterwards that the suds and water were running down hill into the dogs living area. If an infected dog or cat urinated on these rugs, what are the chances they could contract the parvovirus? I saw no indication of there ever being any feces on these rugs. They've all been vaccinated and did not come into contact with the run off.

They should be fine. Since they have been vaccinated for parvovirus they are protected. Generally unvaccinated puppies are at high risk, adult dogs don't get it as often, especially those that are vaccinated.
