My dog has stomach issues. Could it be a foreign object blockage?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 46.5 lbs

My little Cooper got brought to the vet while I was at school because he's been having some stomach issues. The doctors are telling us that it seems like there's something like cloth in him with gas bubbles behind it that are blocked. He likes to chew on socks, underwear, any dog toy (hard, soft, fluffy, etc). I'm just so worried because I'm young and don't know much. Naturally I started the worst so if anyone can give me a list of possibilities I'd appreciate it :( (Old photos, taken 1monthish ago)

Hi. I'm sorry Cooper is having stomach issues. If you vet has taken an X-ray and they think he is blocked from eating cloth, it sounds like they have a diagnosis and that he may need surgery. I would do whatever your vet is recommending, when dogs are blocked it can be painful and the blockage needs to be removed to help him feel better.
