Hi My cat as a low grade bone tumour the biopsy showd this, is this the same as grade 1? He had a leg amputation due to no chest mets. What is the life expectancy of the animal? Thanks Gaynor

Hi Gaynor. I'm sorry to hear about Hendrix. I assume that the tumor was osteosarcoma by what you wrote. If that's the case, it's good that it's grade 1 (that is low grade) and that there are no chest mets. Unfortunately, osteosarcoma is fairly aggressive so there may already be microscopic spread. Survival time with aggressive treatment (like limb amputation) helps increase survival time. We tend to give people the range of 3 month - 2 years. I know that is wide, but cancer is difficult to predict and some cases surprise us. I tend not to give concrete survival times because usually pets outlive the published times. Best wishes to you and Hendrix.
