My dog's bed has purple spots. Is it blood, licking, or a UTI?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 22 lbs

About a couple of weeks ago I found a purplish spot in my dog's bed. I checked her body for any wounds and fur for any dry blood, but didn't see anything. Today, I noticed a second spot in a different area of the bed with the same purplish color. I just checked her again, still not finding any markings of a cut or injury. I know she constantly licks her bed and so now I'm not sure if these are markings of her always licking her bed or if they are blood spots.

It's possible that these could be blood spots, but you are also correct that it could be due to her constantly licking her bed. It would be a good idea to have Bella checked out by a vet to be safe. She could have a UTI and is dripping some blood and urine leading to these spots, or it may have been a small wound. It never hurts to have a health check with the vet when you find something out of the ordinary. I hope this helps!

I would observe Buddy, maybe put a towel in the place where he sleeps. If it happens again, take Buddy to a vet for an exam. Sometimes dogs drool while sleeping or are so relaxed that they pee when asleep. If that only happens once or twice, it is not a problem.

Poor Spica. There is a good chance that she is in heat if she hasn't been spayed. I would look at her vulva to see if it look swollen and if there is a little bloody discharge from there. If not, then I would have your vet take a look at her to see if she is bleeding from anywhere else especially if you see it again on her bed. I hope this helps!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Waffle. I would have her examined by her veterinarian. She may have a urinary tract infection and be leaking blood tinged urine. She could also have a sore tooth causing her gums to bleed. Skin wounds are more obvious so I suspect that you would have seen one in checking her over. Check her litter box though and see if she has any evidence of blood in the urine clumps or diarrhea or stool that is blood tinged. I hope this information helps!

Coco needs to be examined by the veterinarian and have her urine checked for signs of an infection. since she can't talk and tell you why this is happening, you must rule out medical causes. The spot on her back could be related to flea bites, a skin infection or allergies. Have the doctor examine that as well. I hope she gets to feeling better quickly and please feel free to post any additional questions.

So, my dog went to the vet about 4 days ago to get her routine blood work and urine samples tested. Everything came back good except for her globulin was a little high. Vet said that's nothing to worry about. She had no UTI and her urine was perfect.
It is possible she is developing incontinence which is quite common in females, especially once spayed. UTIs generally are associated with frequent attempts, straining and small volumes of urine rather than leakage bed when sleeping or sitting. Contact your vets office to report the additional signs, most cases can be successfully managed with medication

Frequent licking and blood in the urine are signs of an infection. However if it flared after the start of the antibiotics then I would pursue further testing. Did they do anytime sample tonxhexk for cells and crystals and see what bacteria what present? From there you need an X-ray or an ultrasound to make sure there are no bladder stones as this can require surgery or the problem will keep occurring without.

I have just noticed my 7 month old dog has been licking at herself and when she just urinated it was like brownish red
I see what you mean in the picture provided, it looks like there is some blood there on the wee wee pad. I also see that Annie isn't spayed, so this could mean that she is going into heat for the first time. She is a small breed dog at seven months of age, and that age is when that can happen for the first time in small breed dogs. The other possibility is that she has a UTI, but I can't say for certain without seeing her in person. I would have her seen by a vet to determine if she is in heat or if she has UTI. Until she sees the vet, do not take her in public and do not let her be alone with any intact males. It is never recommended to mate a female dog during her first heat. I hope this helps.

This behavior can actually be a sign of a UTI or bladder stones. I'd have Monty seen by a vet for this for blood work and a urinalysis. Using these tests, the vet can diagnose if he has one of the things I mentioned above, and can treat him. I'd take him into a vet today. I hope this helps!

You can try bringing the other dog into the vet for a health check just to make sure that dog isn't bleeding. I get how hard it is to tell which animal may be bleeding where you have a couple of them, as I have a few animals of my own. Otherwise, I would keep monitor them and the carpet. If you keep seeing blood spots, it could be coming from the genital area, which can be a sign of a UTI or bladder stones. At that point, I would take them both back into the vet for blood tests and a urinalysis.
