My dog has bumps after bath and flea treatment. Allergic reaction?

I gave my dog a bath two days ago and now he has bumps all over his body. I used regular Dawn dish soap ( i always do) and sergeant flea spray and powder now he is covered in bumps what shouldni do?

Poor Savage! It sounds like he could be suffering an allergic reaction, and that could be due to the flea spray and powder. Sergeant isn't a very good brand of flea protectant, and the poor quality brands can and do cause allergic reactions. I would take him into the vet first thing in the morning, he may need steroids to help control the reaction. While there, you can get a much better quality flea treatment for him such as Revolution or Advantage. I hope this helps!

Martins l.g. regulator is only to be used on furniture and animal bedding, not on the animal itself according to it's package instructions and the bumps may be a reaction from that. Your friend is wrong that these bumps are permanent, and I would immediately bathe Vega to get this product off of her immediately. If these bumps do not go away or get worse, you will need to take her into the vet in the morning for treatment. Please do not put this product on her again, it's not safe to use on dogs. As for flea treatment, you need to use a product specifically labeled for use in dogs, and I will give you the flea treatment method I always recommend that works extremely well. First, I would give her Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas within 30 minutes. Then follow up with a spot on treatment, such as Advantage or Revolution. This is a treatment that has to be used once a month. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash her bedding in hot soapy wa

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Brutus! After a bad flea infestation and reaction it is best to have your Vet treat the skin with a course of antibiotics and steroids. A skin infection usually results from all the scratching from the fleas. This is the quickest way to resolving Brutus's skin issues and to make him feel better. You can try the cream but I wouldn't want him to lick it and it will get stuck in his fur. Plus that is a very large area for cream. I hope this helps and I wish Brutus the best!

Why does my dogs hind leg has bumps? Also over her body different sizes.
This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Legacy regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or Apoquel in order to stop the allergy.

She could have a bacterial skin infection associated with the flea allergy dermatitis. Since it is not responding to the treatments that you have tried, she should be examined by a vet for treatment. She may need a corticosteroid, antibiotic, and an anti-histamine to treat. Your vet can also recommend an effective flea control regime to help prevent fleas. The best thing is to use a monthly flea prevention, like NexGard, Frontline, Advantage to help control the fleas.

Oh no, poor Archie! Flea treatments at most should only be given two weeks apart, so if you gave them to him in less time than that, then yes it could be a reaction to the treatment. Shar peis can also be prone to allergies, and that could be cause of these big bumps on his body. You can giving him an Epsom salt bath or an oatmeal both to see if that helps with the bumps. If not, I would take him into the vet. The vet can diagnose what is causing the bumps and how best to treat it.

I treated my boxer with adams flea and tick shampoo last night. This morning I notice that he has bumps mainly his back front chest and skin irritation on and around his penis area. What should I do to help him.
Hello. Harley is having a significant allergic reaction, possibly from the shampoo, possibly from something else. You may have inadvertently left some shampoo on his skin & coat, so I would rebathe him in lukewarm water & no soap. Make sure you rinse multiple times to make sure all shampoo is removed. If he is not uncomfortable, you can just watch him as it may take a day or two for the bumps to subside. If he is very itchy or uncomfortable & chewing at his skin, please see your veterinarian. Hello. You might want to bathe Dodger in some cool water & dish soap to kill any fleas he has on him ( if you have flea shampoo, use this ). It sounds like he is having an allergic reaction to the flea bites. For some dogs, all it takes is one flea to set off a reaction. Make sure you are using a good flea product on him on a regular basis & you might also need to treat your home & yard for fleas, too. If the bumps & itching persist, please see your vet tomorrow for medication to cool his reaction & make him much more comfortable. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hi our dog gus, 1year old has started to come up with lumps all over his body. We did do advocate today on all our animals and this is the first time hes had any reaction. They say no reaction so cant think of anything else.

Small Black Dog Skin Bumps with Hair Loss what should I do?
This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be fleas or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat her with a high quality flea treatment (e.g. advantage), then get her to the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try discovering the cause of the allergy. Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). simultaneously you should start her on a prescription hypoallergenic diet for at least 2 months. Hopefully you will see some results after all this, if not you and your vet should consider putting her on a long term allergy treatment (Atopica or Apoquel).

Yes, Gidget could absolutely be allergic to her flea treatment! Topical products can definitely cause redness, irritation, hair loss or sores at the application site. They can also cause system reactions such as seizures, tremors and trouble walking but these are rare. Oral products can cause vomiting, diarrhea and decreased appetite. Dogs that have epilepsy may be more prone to have increased seizure frequency but this is also not likely. Extremely rare cases can be anaphylactic reactions of collapse and hypotension and this could be to any product. If you are seeing problems, I would recommend to switch products. While some products have the same active ingredient (like Fipronil), many are different. I have had good flea prevention and very low reactions to Comfortis, Simparica and Revolution. Remember that itching all over can be related to fleas not dying from your product, food allergy or environmental allergies. I hope I answered your question!
