My dog ate a pecan swirl pastry. What symptoms should I watch for?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 9.4 lbs

My chihuahua ate half of a pecan swirl pastry. He seems fine, but I’m not sure if he’ll be ok. He probably consumed the equivalent of 2-3 pecans in total. There’s a huge fire in my area and I don’t want to bother with an emergency visit, while there are so many serious cases right now. What should I do? Will he be alright?

Hello, pecan may cause mild GI signs such as diarrhea or vomiting. You should monitor Tiny for any of these signs and bring him to your veterinarian in the morning if he does develop any. Otherwise, stay safe from the fires. Best of luck and hope this helps.
