Dog ear hematoma bleeding after super glue. Can I treat it at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 6 years and 6 months old | 70 lbs

My dog had a hematoma on her ear so we decided to cut it and blood went EVERYWHERE. Then it wouldn’t stop bleeding so we tried everything to stop the bleeding like taping tissue on it. Then we decided to use super glue to glue it shut and it worked but now it’s filling back up with blood. The pain is becoming unbearable for her and there is no vet near. What would be an at home treatment option? Is the glue reversible? Also you can see the dried glue in the pictures.

There is no at home treatment option appropriate in this situation. You owe it to your dog to go to an emergency clinic and get this sorted out. She will be in extreme pain having her ear cut without anesthetic, and she is at great risk of infection considering an incision was made without proper surgical preparation. There is also the fact that she is continuing to bleed. If you won't take her to the vet tonight I suggest that you carefully bandage the ear to try and stop the bleeding. You will not be able to stop the haematoma reforming so you will have to take her to the vet in the morning.
