My senior dog has a bleeding, fast-growing head lump. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed

What is this my dog is growing on her head? It started a little over a month ago and within a short time looks like this in the picture. She has other tumors but this is bleeding alot. She shows no pain with it and she was scratching around it and rubs her head on furniture. She has what I believe are fatty tumors on her belly she had for a couple years and has another couple tumor spots. She is 13 we believe. She eats and drinks and acts a little food aggressive.

Unfortunately this looks like a nasty tumour growing on Tuna's head. It sounds like it is quite aggressive with growing so fast, and my major concern is the way it is breaking out and ulcerating. This will be painful and high risk for infection. I suspect that this is quite a nasty cancer and that it maybe will not be possible to remove it. I think you need to take Tuna into a vet as soon as possible to have this examined and an appropriate course of action decided upon. It will be causing her a lot of discomfort.
