My dog has a pink bump on her head. Is it serious? Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 12 years and 4 months old | 68 lbs

My 12 year husky has a pink bump on her head. Looks like maybe a wart. It got a bit bigger but doesn’t seem to be growing anymore. Should I see a vet or can I treat at home? It doesn’t seem to itch or bother her.

This growth needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Nakita to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

Hi there. It sounds like Strider just has a benign growth on her chin, pink bumps can be many things including clogged hair ducts, warts, or benign skin tumors. It's not an emergency, but to be safe I would make an appointment with your vet to have them take a small sample with a needle and just confirm whether it need to just be monitored or if removal is a good idea. I hope that helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
