Why is my Mini Pinscher shaking, trembling, and showing signs of pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Male | neutered | 2 years and 6 months old

Hi. I have a male dog. A mini pinscher one. He's 2 years old and I've been wondering because for the past two weeks (almost), he's been shaking and like afraid and really different from what he was before. I don't know if it's trauma but we really dk 'cause we just went home and he's already trembling and no energy. He also cries when someone's going near him, even us. He also has poor appetite. What should we do? :( P.S. He doesn't move all the time just like on the photos

He is painful not afraid. This posture looks like neck pain from a bulging intervertebral disc. This is very painful and is common in small dogs. Please take him to your veterinarian for an exam. They will probably prescribe pain medication, muscle relaxers and an anti inflammatory medication. They may recommend an X-ray also. This is a serious medical problem as the pain can be severe and some dogs become paralyzed. You should not use a collar on Moose, use a harness if needed. Massage and heat on the neck can reduce the muscle spasms and make Moose more comfortable. Also I treat these dogs with laser and acupuncture for the neurological problem, muscle spasm and pain. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Moose.
