My newborn puppies drank milk from wrong vaccinated dog. Are they safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 115 lbs

I had 6 newborn puppies born today. I had let the mother of the puppies outside to get rest. I sent my daughter to put her back in, and she brought the wrong female. And the puppies drank milk of the other female which I gave parvovirus vaccine and dewormer. What can happen to The puppies? What Can I do to save them?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think the puppies will be fine. Vaccinating pregnant dogs can harm new born babies. I do not think that because the wrong mother was recently vaccinated and dewormed will harm the puppies. I would be careful and have the real mother be the only source of milk going forward. I hope this helps!
