I think your sister has reasonable concerns. Most dogs are highly adaptable to new situations, but some dogs can become very attached to one person, and could get very anxious when that person leaves. If you are gone, there is a chance that your dog would bond with the other person taking care and may never really bond with you. There are also concerns that this is a huge responsibility for someone else to completely care for your dog. Do they want to do this? Will they be able to take care of your dog as well as you? Are they able to take it to the vet when needed? If you are traveling more than 50% of the time away from home and cannot take your dog, then I am not sure that it would be a smart decision to get a dog that you will have to worry about all of the time. You also wouldn't get to enjoy his company while you are gone, and you may find you don't enjoy traveling as much with this new life to worry over.
