My dog's mastitis teat is bleeding after a walk. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old

She has mastitus went for a walk and when she came back infected teet started to bleed from side

Mastitis can be a very nasty infection and can be caused by a variety of different bacteria. If the infection is not healing despite antibiotic treatment, speak to your veterinarian about performing a culture and sensitivity to determine if there would be a better type of antibiotic to treat Lace's infection.

    Hello, I am so sorry for your concerns about Lace. Mastitis can be a pretty nasty infection, but usually clears up fairly quickly with antibiotics. If she has not been started on an antibiotic, then you are seeing the gland starting to abscess & treatment is needed. Make sure her puppies are no longer nursing on her, clean the area either with chlorhexidine or betadine, & put a clean T-shirt on her, & try to see your vet at your earliest convenience.
