Is my dog's diarrhea from pancreatitis diet change or recovery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 7 years and 9 months old | 70 lbs

Dog just got home from vet and has pancreatitis. She ate a special food and drank water while home. We've seen her use the restroom and it came out in a log shape. In the middle of the night she used the restroom in the house and it was diarrhea again. It was in a blob and loose log shape. It seemed to be a lot. She went outside and peed and finished with a runny poop. Is this part of the change in diet and recovery from the pancreatitis? We are just worried about her.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Winnie! The diarrhea is likely part of the pancreatitis. Be sure that she is on medication for diarrhea (metronidazole or tylosin). If she isn't on medication for diarrhea because this is a new symptom, call your Vet when they open to see if you can pick up medication for the diarrhea. I hope this helps and I wish Winnie a speedy recovery!
