Why is my senior dog pooping liquid blood? Is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Poodle | Female | unspayed | 11 years and 4 months old | 9 lbs

My dog is oooping straight up blood! Only blood. I cannot attach a photo because I didn’t think of taking them before cleaning it up. I’m very concerned and scared mostly because of our financial unstableness. The poop isn’t even poop, it’s liquid blood. She is 11 years old and a miniature poodle. What do I do? What may this be?

It sounds as your pet is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking Cookie to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
