Why is my kitten meowing? When will she go into heat? Raw food?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 month and 21 days old | 3 lbs

Savannah will be 9wks old on Wednesday how soon will she go in heat and also shr is a bengal and Savannah mix i feed her grain free food am i really suppose to feed her raw chicken as well? I do give her the juice and some tuna for a nice taste. Dont know why she keeps meowing for no reason

Savannah won't go into heat for the first time until she is at least six months of age. If you don't plan on breeding her, I recommend having her spayed before then. Cats in heat are very annoying. No, I do not recommend feeding her raw chicken; in fact, I never recommend a raw diet. You can occasionally give her some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) as a treat. Be sure to be feeding her a kitten formulated food so she can get all the nutrients she needs to be healthy. She could keep meowing because she's hungry, and it may be the grain free food isn't satisfying her. I never recommend feeding grain free unless there is a proven allergy to grains, which is actually very rare. You can try feeding her a high quality kitten food such as Royal Canin, Hill's Science diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. I hope this helps!

Hello. This is common behavior for a female cat that is in heat. Although 5-6 months is young, she is old enough to be starting her first heat cycle. You can have your veterinarian examine her to make sure and discuss spaying her if that is your wish.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Starting her heat cycle in a unspayed female cat is the most common reason for increased vocalization. Other possible causes are: she sees other cats outside (territorial), anxiety (cats outside, starting heat, changes to house hold), attention seeking, or medical issue. I would close the blinds temporarily, provide environmental enrichment (cat trees, interactive cat toys, lazer pointer, play with her) and consider spaying her. You can also consider a Vet exam to be sure it isn't a medical condition. If she is otherwise fine, I hope that is improves with time and some of the above. Have a great day!

Ivory is in heat, this is going to carry on pretty much all the time until you get her spayed. It usually starts around the age of 6 months but some cats come into heat at 4 months as well. Make an apointment with your vet to get her spayed as soon as they can.

No, you cannot feed a kitten human food. They have very specialized nutritional needs, and should only be fed a kitten formulated food. In addition, many human foods are not safe to feed cats, and are toxic if given. Please only give her a kitten formulated food. I see that Honey isn't spayed. I suspect she is in heat, and that is causing this behavior. Cats in heat are extremely annoying. If you want this behavior to stop, I would have her spayed. Best of luck.

Cats will remain in heat until they have found a tomcat to engage with. So, unless she had a boyfriend to impregnate her she will not come out of heat. If you do not want kittens you should be kind to her and have her spayed.

Question: We found Angel possibly abandoned by her family or she got separated from her litter. Not sure exactly which. However we are thinking that maybe she was born sometime in May. That would make her roughly 6 months old. This morning she is not
Kittens typically start teething around four months of age. so if Angel is about six months of age, she would be at the tail end of teething. It's certainly possible that teething could be causing her lack of appetite. Teething is painful, and some cats will avoid eating when teething. Try soaking her food in tuna juice to make it softer for her to eat. It's unlikely to be her first heat causing a loss of appetite. When cats go into their first heat, they become more affectionate and more vocal. In fact, cats in heat can be extremely annoying! I would recommend having her spayed to avoid annoying behaviors as well as urine marking, wanting to roam, and kittens. If Angel refuses to eat her softened food, then it could be something else causing her to not eat such as a systemic illness, inflammation, injury, or infection. In that case, I would take her to the vet tomorrow for a health check. Good luck, I hope this helps!

I try mix cat food with cut cook chicken and it didn't work. I got to eat roast beef and she eats it. I try treats and no good. She will human food and nothing else.
That is very rare that a kitten this young will only eat people food. Even canned food such as salmon, turkey and chicken are often irresistible to kittens. I am not sure if you have tried high quality food brands like Royal Canin, Hills science diet or Innova (Evo), but those should be tried as well or you will have a hard time feeding Ryoko as she gets older. She also needs kitten food because it contains added vitamins and minerals including Taurine, which is vital for cats to have in their diet or they are at risk for developing heart disease. Hello. It is possible that Kiara is bothered by some kind of skin parasite, such as cat fleas or mites. You may need to apply an appropriate flea topical to help her. She may also be in heat. She is old enough to come into heat & they can act & vocalize in strange ways. If the behavior continues, please have her seen by your veterinarian. She may simply need to be spayed.
