Why is my cat having watery yellow diarrhea, vomiting, and pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 11 lbs

My cat has been defecating very frequently. The stool is watery and yellow in colour. It appears as if she has no control ever her rectum as the stool is coming out without any force. Also, her anal area appears to be red on the outside. She is in pain and is weak. Her vomit seems to be milky. She is defecating wherever she sits or stands although she is a trained cat. Please help us. What medicines or food should we give her?

I would recommend that Pussy be checked out by a vet as soon as possible. Her symptoms could be caused by intestinal parasites (worms, coccidia, giardia), bacterial or viral infection (panleukopenia), IBD, intestinal lymphoma, food allergies, among a few others. From the picture, I am also concerned that she may have a prolapsed rectum. This can occur with straining during diarrhea. Sometimes this prolapse will require surgery to put it back in place and allow it the chance to heal. A vet may recommend intestinal parasite screening or viral testing to determine the cause of her illness and prescribe appropriate treatment. Unfortunately, without physically examining Pussy, it is illegal for us to make any specific medication recommendations.
