Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs
I have a 3-4 year old chihuahua. He has been scooting on the rug, and everywhere else that he goes, and yelping. His anas is a little red/purplish color, I don’t know if that is relevant. This morning he was on the bed and was scooting and I happened to look down and saw several small white worms that seemed to still be moving. I’m concerned because he seems to be very restless and uncomfortable. He hasn’t been to the vet since he was a pup. I would like to know if he needs immediate vet care?

The worms can be tapeworms and they often look like small pieces of rice. They get these from eating a flea. It can cause itching and irritation around there anus. However an infectedcor impacted anal gland can also cause the same symptoms and can rupture if untreated. I would take him to the vet to have the worms confirmed and get medicine for that. They can also chechnyhebgkabds to make sure antibiotics aren't needed to help. This does not have to be as an emergency thiugh, if he is eating and drinking well you can schedule an appointment for tomorrow
