My pregnant dog has hives. What's safe to treat her allergic reaction?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 65.6 lbs

My dog is half way done with her pregnancy however she has had an allergic reaction and has broken out in hives what is safe for me to give her or use on her to help the hives go away

Benadryl is safe in pregnant dogs, a common dosage is 1mg per pound of body weight. Nova would need around 65mg. I would do this once, but if the hives do not respond, then I would have her checked out by a vet.

    I would not give benadryl to Nova if there is a chance she could be pregnant, as it's not recommended for use pregnant animals. You will need to take her into her vet if she's suffering from a break out currently. The vet may be able to determine if she's pregnant or not (she would need to be at least three weeks along), and what medication, if any, is safe to give her. Best of luck.
