Corgi has soft lumps on snout after chewing rawhide. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Pembroke Welsh Corgi | Female | spayed | 9 months and 3 days old | 26 lbs

We notices a few lumps on our corgis snout that appear to have come out of nowhere. She hasn't eaten anything out of the normal that we know of. It doesn't seem to bother her and is soft to the touch. Is it anything to be concerned about? She had been chewing on a rawhide bone before we noticed but it was one she had started on yesterday and we this only came up today so not sure if it is related.

It is possible that the lumps are related to her Gimli chewing on the rawhide, as it can take time for an allergic reaction to occur. I would take away the rawhide and keep an eye on the bumps. If they get bigger in size or do not go away, then I would have her seen by a vet on Monday. Should her face and muzzle start swelling, then I would rush her into an ER vet immediately as this swelling can quickly lead to respiratory distress and possibly death. I wouldn't give her rawhide anymore in case the reaction is related to that. I hope this helps!

It is possible that Ginger received an insect bite leading to this bump. It could also be from an injury. I don't think this requires an ER visit unless this really bothers her, it keeps getting bigger, or she develops other signs such as swelling of her nose and muzzle. It may be raw onto now because she's been rubbing at it, and I would put an Ecollar on her to keep her from rubbing at it. I will put a link on how to make one at home below. My dog has large lumps on her nose, and swollen gums
If these lumps have suddenly appeared then it may be an allergic reaction to a sting or such. If so t should settle down within 48 hours. However it would be worth going to the vet to ensure she is okay and that it is nothing else such as infection or masses. Even if it is just allergic reaction they can usually give an injection to help it settle faster.

Hello. Sudden onset of raised skin in circles about the size of a penny or a nickle, as well as a swollen face around the eyes and the lips is TYPICALLY due to an allergic reaction to a bug bite. It can also be caused by other things as well. The swelling can continue to get worse and can end up obstructing the airway- so for this reason we recommend you have him seen by a vet right away. If the swelling stops and starts to go down then you can monitor him, however if it continues to get worse or if he has trouble breathing, then get him seen immediately, or if there is any vomiting.

This looks like a mass of some sort. From the picture it looks like a mole but if it is getting bigger and/or bothering her I would recommend to have your vet doing an exam on her to ensure that it doesn't need to be removed.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Luna. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. Her skin appears very raw and irritated. She will be examined and her veterinarian will discuss possible diagnoses as well as treatment. For example, she may have a skin infection. This can be secondary to allergies, fleas or even fly bites. There are also rare autoimmune skin disease that can affect the nose. The veterinarian will guide you on how to help her feel better. In the meantime, place an E-collar on her so that she cannot scratch her nose. I hope this information helps!

These look like an allergic reaction within the skin and as long as she is not agitated and there is no vomiting, panting or sneezing I would continue to monitor at home. Contact your nearest emergency vet if any changes develop

I am very sorry that Nola is experiencing these issues with her snout. Given the fact that the lump seems to come and go I would be concerned it is either an injury which is swelling, a tooth issue, or an infection under the skin. I would suggest a visit to the veterinarian in the next few days if the lump continues to appear. The vet will possible perform an X-ray to visualise the lump, and may take a sample of it using a technique called fine needle aspiration. In the meantime you can try a cool compress if she will tolerate it. Best of luck to you both.

It could be an infection, cyst, allergic reaction, benign or cancerous lump. The best thing would be to have your vet examine her to perform a needle aspirate to help diagnose. Your vet can then determine the best way to treat. She may need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, or it may need to be removed.

Hello, thank you for your question about Bailey. Based oh the photo that you have provided I suspect that those bumps are hives and signs that Bailey is having an allergic reaction. If the reaction is mild and these are the only signs that you are seeing you could try giving her Benadryl at home to control the reaction. If she is showing any other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, or progressive facial swelling I would recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!

I see what you mean about the bumps on Harold's nose. It could be from an insect bite, or he could be suffering from an allergic reaction. Keep an eye on the bumps, if they keep getting bigger, his face starts swelling, he has difficulty breathing, and/or he goes into respiratory distress, this is a medical emergency and he will need to see a vet right away. If the bumps remain overnight and do not getting bigger but are still there in the morning, yes then I would take him into a vet first thing. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
