My dog keeps itching raw spots despite flea meds. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 8 lbs

My baby keeps itching. We gave her an oatmeal bath and she has flea meds on and no fleas but she keeps itching the same spots till it’s raw. Why does she keep doing this? It looks wet because i put oatmeal spray that helps her stop itchy for a little.

I’m sorry to hear Dove isn’t feeling well. If she is scratching the area raw she has likely caused a skin infection and needs oral antibiotics. I recommend taking Dove to a vet to find the cause of the scratching. She could have microscopic mites or an allergic reaction. She needs stronger medication than shampoos to stop her from scratching and she can only get those from a vet. Good luck and kisses to Dove!
