What is Nobivac 5? Are boosters needed for a healthy 15-year-old dog?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 14 years and 8 months old | 50 lbs

My vet sent a card saying my dog needed Nobivac 5 booster. What is it for? He is almost 15 years old. Isn't he too old to have boosters or should he have? His health is good.

Hello, thats a distemper, parvo, parainfluenza, hepatitis virus vaccine which administered yearly. It can be a 1 year vaccine or a 3 year vaccine. We generally recommend giving theses boosters for their entire lifespan not just for their protection but also for disease prevention and control. Laws vary by state, but the only vaccine which may be required by law is the rabies. Check with your local and state laws to determine which vaccines are required for licensing. If the 5 booster is not required, then Bud may not need to get the vaccines. Best of luck and hope this helps.
