When do large mixed dogs become seniors and what's their lifespan?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 6 months old

I would also like to know the life expectancy of my other dog, Tasha. She is a mixed bred dog - Smooth Collie and St. Bernard - weighs 98 lbs. Four years old. Spayed. My previous question about Jake (dog), re: he is neutered. At four years of age, is Tasha a Senior, now? Plus, Jake, at 7 yrs. of age, is he considered as a Senior, also?

Large-giant breed types age faster and have a lower life expectancy of 8-10 but cross breeds can be much hardier than true st bernards. Again maintaining a healthy lifestyle and regular checks ups are important to highlight any changes as they age http://www.akc.org/content/entertainment/articles/how-to-calculate-dog-years-to-human-years/
