Should I pick Fromm for ingredients or Natural Balance for stools?

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 5 years and 3 months old | 17 lbs

I'm in a bit of a pickle. My dog has slightly better stools on Natural Balance but I prefer Fromm better based on the ingredients. What should I do and why? Below are pictures of each stool based on the different foods. The one on the right is natural balance. Sorry I mixed up the photos last time.

I would keep Chloe on the Fromm if you like the ingredients better. The feces look fine in both pictures. Her feces in the Fromm look well formed and solid, and while some of it is a little lighter, that could be due to the ingredients in the food. As I said in my previous answer to your question, as long as the Fromm doesn't cause her diarrhea, it's fine to keep her on it.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Honestly both stools look fine. I would encourage you to proceed with the diet that Choe prefers. If she likes to have 1/2 of each then that would be good too. If at any point she develops diarrhea then it could be indicated to try something else. Good luck and have a great day!

Is natural balance dry and canned food a good brand without a lot of fillers? Would this brand cause larger stools because of the potatoes? When I gave the dry food it was fine but when I gave the canned her stool seemed slightly bigger. Is this ok?
Most of Natural Balance's foods are limited ingredient or high-quality ingredients, so they should be fine to feed. If you've transitioned recently from dry to wet it may be that the higher amount of liquid in the wet diet is increasing the stool volume slightly. As long as it isn't runny, discolored, or distressful to Chloe when she goes potty, this is fine.

Which stool looks better in your opinion? She seems to poop significantly less on Natural Balance vs. Canidae.
Interesting, if you would ask i would probably say that Canidae would be my personal choice over natural balance, but the stools appearance and quantity say otherwise in her case, it seems she might be better on the natural balance.

Why is Fromm considered a better food than natural balance? Please explain.
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I just ask my clients to check for the AAFCO nutritional statement on any food brand they purchase. If the pet eats the food well, is appropriate body weight, doesn't have vomiting or diarrhea then I am happy. Between these 2 brands you will get different answers and reasons probably from every Vet or pet owner you ask. I have clients on both that are happy. Personally I would chose Fromm for my dog, no reason except for preference. I hope this helps! http://petfood.aafco.org/

Is this a normal poop? This after my dog had Natural Balance canned food. Is it too big? She's 17 pounds. It looks ok to me but I just want to make sure.
Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. It does not look as if your picture was uploaded. I would suggest reposting with the picture attached. If you are concerned about the stool being too large in quantity sometimes foods high in fiber can lead to this increased volume of stool. As long as it is not causing any discomfort or problems this is fine. However, sometimes a diet high in fiber can increase the frequency at which the dog needs to defecate and if Chloe is home alone for any long period of time without being able to go outside, you may find that she will be unable to hold her stool for a long period of time. Is one of these poops better? These are on two different foods.
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Both stools are normal. One isn't better than the other. Different foods can cause the stool to be slightly different colors. I would choose the food that he likes the best. Personally the first picture is an ideal stool, so that would be a good choice! I hope this helps and good luck!

What do you think is better for my Cavalier, Fromm grain free or natural balance lid grain free? Why?
The nutritional profiles for both of these foods is very similar. I have no preference, but I have had heard several positive reviews about Fromm from my clients. What I would recommend is that you choose one (just go with your gut!) and feed it for 1 week. If Chloe doesn't like eating it, has vomiting or diarrhea, less energy, a dull haircoat, etc then it may not be a good match for her body. Then you could try the other (or a different food).

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! You may need to feed the i/d stew for a few days in a row to appreciate a difference in stool. But Chloe's stool may look the same on both diets. The stool is normal in each picture, so I'm not sure what the goal with her stool is. I hope this helps!

Hello, Fromm is up and coming and a lot of clients have had good experience with this food. Overall, pet food is really only evaluated by how your pet does on this food. Despite both foods being good, Chloe may respond differently to one or the other. For non-working dogs, we try and provide any maintenance diet which is tolerated the best. Both foods appear to be similar in ingredients and both are grain free. Try feeding one and see which Chloe prefers the best. If she does not like one, then try the other. Hello, both dog foods are good brands. It may be a difference in ingredients and quality of ingredients which fits better for Chloe. Both formulas are made to meet the AAFCO standards and regulations for pet food, meaning they are both balanced and will provide adequate nutritional support for Chloe. The difference in these two foods mainly has to do with price and brand. Natural Balance is still considered a good brand of food and one of the most used and well known brands of commercial dog food. Chloe can have Natural Balance if she does better on it.
