My cat bites the new kitten during play. Is this normal behavior?

How do I know if Stella likes the new baby kitten they play and then sometimes Stella gets carried away and literally bites the cat how do I tell the body language what's good and what's not

You will see mother cats display this behavior with their kittens. They will bite their kittens gently and sometimes harder to get them to stop behaviors that annoy them or are inappropriate. Stella could be doing the same behavior to let Savannah know she has had enough. As long as Stella isn't breaking skin with her bite, this is normal behavior. If you see that Stella is biting her hard enough to break the skin and/or make her cry in pain, then separate them immediately. I hope this helps!

If Icy isn't biting them hard enough to break the skin or cause them to cry out in pain, then this biting is normal. She is teaching them what behavior is appropriate and which behavior is inappropriate by disciplining them with these bites. The bites lets the kittens know they need to behave and that the behavior they are currently doing isn't acceptable. Now if she is biting them hard enough to break the skin and/or they are crying out in pain, that isn't normal and she needs to see the vet (bring the kittens with her). Sudden aggression to the kittens can be a sign of a medical problem, and that needs to be examined by a vet. I hope this helps!

My kitten naturally doesn't use her claws when we play, she just bites. Is this normal and okay?
That is good that Tabitha keeps her claws in, this trait is typically the last thing cats learn to do to avoid scratching their humans. Biting is a natural kitten thing, it is how kittens typically play with each other, which can be very rough. I would try to divert Tabitha's attention to other toys to bite and prey on in the home besides yourself. Cats have a natural hunting nature and this behavior has to be fulfilled with toys, fake mice, moving objects,etc. If Tabitha has the ability to hunt and prey on other things, then she won't be so inclined to bite you as much. However, some biting can be expected, because that is just how kittens play.

Some cats are somewhat rough and vocal with their kittens. As long as the kittens appear to be nursing regularly, are snuggled up together or close with mom, and are not in any sort of weak condition, I would not remove them from their mother's care. Obviously monitor the situation carefully. If you start seeing any sort of serious marks or wounds on the kittens, you will know for sure that she isn't just moving them. If you need to separate them you will have to institute a bottle feeding schedule, keep them warm, and stimulate their bowels / urine. If this is required, you can certainly repost and we can walk you through how to safely accomplish this. Best of luck!

It is normal for the mother cat to use her mouth to move a kitten around or she may nip gently when the kitten is bothering her. If she seems aggressive and you are concerned she may injure the kitten you may need to keep them separated, however you will need to bottle feed the kitten with a kitten formula like KMR.

It can be normal for a mother to gently bite at a kitten, but if you feel Mum is being aggressive it may be best to allow supervised interactions only so you can intervene if she gets too rough. It is very beneficial for kittens to have time with their mothers, so I would only recommend completely isolating kitten from Mum if she is consistently showing signs of aggression.

This can be very normal behavior for some kittens. You should continue to stop playing when Shade begins to bite and give him an appropriate toy to play with. Teething causes a cat to bite things so the deciduous tooth can fall out. Once such a tooth falls out, it bleeds. So this is likely normal. Kittens also need play fighting to get muscles, strength and coordination. That said. you can throw lots of paper balls for her to chase, make a toy out of a stick with a long string and tie a few feathers at the end of the string. Play with her often until she is tired. Never tussle with your hands. If she attacks your legs, gently take her off and distract her. She will climb curtains and you , and that is part of learning and normal. Do not punish her, because she will not understand. All this will get less over time.

I am so sorry that you are experiencing these problems with biting with Baxster. I am sure it is very upsetting for you. First of all rest assured that this is a very normal kitten behaviour. Kittens learn through play biting and it is part of our role as pet parents to help them learn limits. I would not attempt negative reinforcement such as striking Baxster or speaking harshly as this will potentially create more serious behaviour issues such as anxiety and fear-aggression. Try some calm corrections and positive reinforcement. If Baxster bites you, simply say in a calm voice "no" and stop interacting with him for a few moments. This over time will teach him that biting is not a desired form of play. Also try reinforcing him as he starts to play in a good way by not biting, and giver her a small training treat. If Baxster does manage to bite hard enough to break the skin be careful of a possible infection. Monitor your wound for heat. Swelling, or discharge. Make an appointme

This sounds like normal, playful behavior. As long as Jasper is not injuring the cat and as long as the cat does not seem distressed by it, it should be fine to let it continue. These interactions will help Jasper learn appropriate play behavior. If your cat ever seems distressed or anxious by the behavior then you should intervene. I hope this helps.
