My old chihuahua walks in circles, whines, and seems disoriented. Why?

A friends chihuahua, quiet old, wot stop walking around in circles. Not tight but as if she's lost, wondering around and can't see while whining and extra watery mouth. She was fine then heard my dogs barking and her whining. She's also shaking her head. What could be the reason why how and what is happening with Sheba? Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 6 lbs

There are an umber of possibilities but I would be concerned she may have ear or dental issues causing pain, discomfort and disorientation. Older dogs can also develop cognitive dysfunction (similar to dementia) which can cause similar signs - a full check up by your local vet would be recommended as soon as possible as early medication can help relieve many of these symptoms
