My dog ate trash or dead animal, now her breath stinks. Home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 6 months and 5 days old | 44 lbs

My dog ate some trash or a dead animal in the woods and her breath is horrid. Is there anything I could give her that I may have at home to freshen her breath? She's acting normal and bouncing off the walls like her usual self.

You can certainly brush her teeth with baking soda (a small amount). I would also wash her face down because the odor could be embedded in her fur too. I would watch her real closely for any signs of gastrointestinal discomfort . I suspect if she ate something that bad that the repercussions are coming. Good luck and I hope she is back to normal soon.
